Success is one important thing that I know everybody desires. There are various ways of achieving success. Some people achieve success legitimately, while others achieve theirs illegitimately. Success therefore can be classified into two; Bad or worldly success and Good or Godly success.
As Christians, we should focus on good or Godly success. While pursuing success, do not deviate, always uphold God’s words and commandments.
Here are the Characteristics of Good or Godly success
Good success is achieved through obedience of God’s commandments
When you want to achieve success, if you don’t follow God’s commandment, know that you are pursuing worldly success. No wonder in the Book of Joshua 1:8, God said,” Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth, meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it, then you will be prosperous and successful. ” Those who went to fight for success on their own but never considered the words of God always ended up in sorrow.
Good success grows from one generation to the other
When you achieve your success in Godly manner and receives the blessing of God, your success will continue from one generation to the other. This will only be with the generation who keep on abiding with God’s commandments. When David was pursuing success, and was abiding by the commandments of God, he was successful until he did something that was wrong in the sight of God, God not only cursed him, but his entire household. 2 Samuel 12:10 ” Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah, the Hittite to be your own.” This is to let you know that how you pursue success will affect your generation, if you pursue it in a Godly way, your generation benefits. Some people who have achieved worldly success after they died, shame, crises, penury and other negative things followed their name and generation.
Good success have eternal value
Good success does not end only on earth but continues in heaven. As Christians it is our desire to inherit the kingdom of God after out race here on earth. Then, should we allow worldly riches and in pursuit of worldly things loose the kingdom of God? We should keep ourselves holy and keep God’s commandment while pursuing success. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 ” And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly, and I pray that your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Steps to Good success
Having known all the characteristics of good success, here are steps to guide you towards achieving it;
- Read and meditate on God’s words daily
- You have to put what you have read into practice, let it reflect in your everyday life, keep his commandments.
- Pursue your wealth and success in a Godly way and allow God to give you good success.
- Pray to God for direction and protection always.
