Do you want to know why fathers are mean to their sons? Keep on reading to know what Dads expects from their sons. When I was growing up, I remembered what my Dad once told me. He said to me, “You have a lot of responsibilities in future that’s why you must be strong and focused.” Since then, I keep on wondering what the great tasks ahead looks like. I also remembered on another occassion that I committed an offence that my Mum wanted to handle but my Dad asked my Mum to leave him that he will talk to me “man to man”. It was when I became a grown up man that I realized why all the “dramas” that took place during my early years, I later realized that “to be a man is not a day job”.
Fathers knows how they are trying to keep up with their daily tasks and roles both in the family and also the society at large. They knows what it takes them, how their own fathers got them prepared in order to be able to carry out these tasks that’s why the always make sure that they also get their sons prepared by giving them the proper training that they need to face the future. Have it in mind that every child is special irrespective of you being a boy or a girl, but most times roles differ. In our society, the men are the heads of the family and therefore a lot is expected from them both at the family and also at the society.
Here are the resons why fathers are mean to their sons;
1. They wants them to be able to take care of their own families in future.
Fathers are the head of the family and their sons are the future heads of the family, therefore, a son today, is a father tommorow. Dads knows very well what it took them in order to be able to take care of their own families, how their own Dads brought them up to be able to carry out this role very well, that is why they will make sure that they don’t leave any stone unturned in training their sons so that they will also be able to take good care of their own families in future. Fathers knows very well that if they misdirects their sons, they have misdirected a generation.
2. They wants their sons to be able to represent them well.
Fathers knows very well that they will not be with their sons at all times. In some occassions when they will not be able to make it, they can decide to let their sons go and represent them. They will feel disgraced and embarrased if their sons does not represent them well because there is a name that fathers bear in common with their sons, people who knows them will be forced to ask questions such as, “Is this not the son of Mr. ……?” His father is a gentle and intelligent man, then, Why is he behaving like this?”. No father will be comfortable to hear or entertain such questions, that’s why they must try their best to bring up their sons very well.
3. They don’t want them to be lazy.
Just like the saying goes “No food for a lazy man”, fathers knows the implications of laziness in their sons if it is not corrected at the early stage. They always try their best to raise them up to be strong and hardworking so that they will be able to take care and alsom provide for their own future families. Fathers knows very well that laziness is a habit that gradually grows and matures with the individual and that is the more reason they are always strict with their sons so that they will be able to catch them young.
4. Fathers expects their sons to be useful to them and also to their society.
A well trained son will not be only useful to his family but also to the society at large. No Dad will be happy to know that all his effort in raising up his son was in vain. Dads knows very well that even in their old age, if they properly train their sons, they will be able to take care of them in their old age. Good moral behaviours are transferrable, therefore, a well trained son will also transfer his good habits to others around him thereby making the society a better place.
5. They want them to be strong, fearless and courageous.
No father will want his son to be weak because being weak means that they will be easily intimidated and they may not be able to defend themselves and their families in future. When they are fearful, they may not also be able to accomplish their various tasks and this may hinder them from attaining greater heights. Therefore, fathers tries to bring up their sons so that they will be fearless, bold and courageous.
6. Fathers expects their sons to be intelligent.
Fathers tries to train their sons so that they will be intelligent and not dull. Being intelligent will make them to achieve greater things and it will also help them to confront the various challenges that may confront them in future. When a father raises up his son to be intelligent, he will also be able to impact the same knowledge and wisdom to his own family.
7. Fathers wants their sons to be able to take care of their inheritance.
It is the joy of every father realizing that all he has laboured to get will not be lavished. No father will like to have a “prodigal son”. Fathers therefore makes sure that they train their sons to be able to take care of their inheritance when they are not around. It makes them to struggle harder and acquire more, it also gives them joy and peace of mind.
8. They expects their sons to be good leaders of tommorow.
Learning to be a good leader starts from the home. Fathers wants their sons to be good leaders wherever they find themselves. They train them to be good leaders by living an examplary life and expecting their sons to also emulate from them.
9. They wants them to behave maturely.
A boy today will become the man of tommorow. But what happens when a man still behaves like a boy? This is what most fathers avoid and do not expect from their sons when they grow up. Fathers makes sure that their sons matures both physically and mentally so that they may be able to handle the challenges that may come to them as a man instead of behaving childishly.
I believe that you have now understand the reasons why fathers are mean to their sons. If you are boy, don’t think that you Dad does not like you most especially when he is exercising his fatherly roles, know that it is for your own good.
