Psalms for Peaceful Sleep – I can remember clearly few years back when I will lie down on bed to sleep, but will end up being awake for long hours in the night. I will find myself deeply immersed with so many thoughts that will result to my having so many sleepless nights. At times, I will get tired and start begging my eyes to close to sleep, but all my efforts will be fruitless. I thought that I had a form of sleep disorder without knowing that I was the cause of my problems. I don’t let go of the day’s activities and shortcomings, but instead, I carried them over to my bed. At times, I wondered also about the type of dream that I would have when I eventually start sleeping, the thought of even one scary dream that I had long time ago can keep me awake for hours. To be frank with you then, I enjoyed my daytime more than my nighttime because of how unpleasant it usually was. One day, I was reading my Bible and I read some verses in the Book of Psalms that really gave me a great relief.
God has promised to always be with us at all times, he has promised us great rest and safety. When we worry about the things that we should have left for him, we are only punishing ourselves. When you want to go to bed in the night, surrender all to him. 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” Ask him to come and take charge of you, your thought and also your dreams, he will surely grant you a peaceful sleep and a sweet night rest. Always run to his words for safety and comfort.
