Even in the midst of trials and tribulations, knowing and walking with God will make the burden lighter for us. The only way we can know his plans and purposes for us is when we draw closer to Him. Obeying God’s commands, following his directions, listening to His voice and remaining vigilant when our faith is being tested are some of the principles that we must follow when walking with Him.
Our God is a faithful Father who is always ready to listen and hear our cry whenever we call upon Him. Surrendering your life to Him is the best thing you can do for yourself. Those that left all that they have and followed Jesus Christ never regretted it. The Lord never change, He is still the same God yesterday, today and tomorrow and forever. Come to Him wholeheartedly and He will accept you forever as His child.
1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light, as He is the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His son cleanses us from all sin.” When you make yourself available to walk with God, He is always ready to accept you and forgive you of all your sins and iniquities. God is the only ground we need to stand on that will not sink.
Steps to Walking Closer With God
Thank God for all He has done
Appreciate God for all that He has done for you. Thank Him for granting you the privilege to be alive despite all your wrongdoings. Thank Him also for giving you the opportunity of a change in heart towards knowing Him more and walking closer with Him.
Confess Your Sins
If you have not done so already, confess your sins and forsake them so as to obtain mercy from the Lord. Ask the Holy spirit to help you withstand the desire of sinning. Denounce your sins, reject any false teaching preventing you from drawing closer to Him. Pray that the Good Lord will strengthen you as you navigate through the road of knowing Him more.
Galatians 5:16 “I say, walk by the spirit, and not gratify the desires of the flesh.”
Ask Him to come and Walk with you
Ask for His grace of sustenance so that you will continue to walk in His sight. Pray that He grants you the spirit so that you will not be tempted to fulfill the desires of the flesh. Pray that God lets you see the footprints of Jesus Christ and plant your own foot there. Let Him come and draw you nearer whenever you want to go astray.
Say this Prayer
O Lord, separate me from any form of force that will hinder me from walking closely with you. Deliver me from every power of sin that will weaken me from walking with you. Direct my ways and always lead me towards the right path. I break off every yoke of limitations that may try to arise to hinder me from getting closer to you. In Jesus name. Amen.
Benefits of Walking with God
Genesis 17:1-2 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty, walk before me faithfully and be blameless. Then, I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers.”
God is the way, the truth and the life. He is the giver of all things. When we establish a covenant by walking with Him, He will always be there to guide and direct us in all our ways.
He will bless us with His riches and make our burdens lighter, just like He did for Abraham. When you serve in the vineyard of the Lord, He will work in your own vineyard.
God will help us to know His plans and purposes for us. He will reveal the secrets of His kingdom to us so that we will be able to overcome trials and tribulations and have everlasting life. God will also give us a renewed hope each and every passing day.
Having access to God is free of charge. Make up your mind to follow Him and abide by His commands, He is that friend that will never abandon you. His mercies are forevermore. Walk closer with God, surrender all to Him and see Him takes charge of all that concerns you.
